JoAnne Ceccarelli-Egan LCSW*, MTS*, CHt* is licensed by the State of Connecticut to provide Individual, Marital and Family Counseling. JoAnne was one of the first Pastoral Counselors in the State and is able to offer client’s a Pastoral Counseling perspective with a strong clinical framework. She has been in private practice for over 25 years and in 1989, she was invited to open an office at Our Lady of Calvary Retreat, Farmington, CT

She graduated with a BA with honors from Manhattanville College. She chose to do her Graduate work at Boston University School of Social Work where she majored in Individual and Group Counseling. In 1977, she was selected to enter Boston University School of Theology where she earned a Masters in Theological Studies. She became the first student at BU to earn a dual degree in Social Work and Theology.

In 1979, JoAnne moved to Connecticut where she worked for a Family Counseling agency and specialized in Adolescent counseling.  In addition, she began her private practice in 1981 to address the Pastoral Counseling needs of area churches.  Her practice grew and in 1989 she began New Perspective Counseling. 

In 2004, JoAnne was trained in Hypnosis at American Pacific University. After passing a Qualifying exam, she became certified by the American Board of Hypnotherapy. She has continued taking courses and is also certified in Hypnosis for IBS. She is part of a international network of  hypnotherapists in the U.S. and in the U.K.  She takes her hypnosis very seriously and draws upon her clinical skills to assess whether hypnosis is the most appropriate treatment for the client’s issue.

JoAnne is an experienced and sought after lecturer. She has presented weekend Retreats at Our Lady of Calvary in Farmington, CT since 1991. In this capacity, she writes and conducts conferences, runs groups and meets with people for one-on-one counseling. She has prepared day long workshops for NASW and academic programs for social work students. She continues to teach Continuing Education programs and has begun presenting her Journey program to yoga studios, school teachers, businesses and local organizations.
